Creation Spirit

Recent Awards

The Grand Prairie Festival of the Arts, the 50th annual feature of the Grand Prairie Arts Council in Stuttgart, Arkansas, has just announced that Jim Young of Beaver, Arkansas has been awarded both first and second place in this year’s statewide adult essay competition. The first place award for Young’s essay entitled ON PIGEONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT MATTERS deals with the topic of the authentic expression of love. WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY…, the second place essay, depicts current-day life in Cuba and the failed US policy in that regard. These awards follow on Young’s first place awards in the past two years of the Grand Prairie Festival, one in poetry, with his rendering of the ultimate in intimacy, called LIFE, and another for a short story by the title of THANKS FOR THE YELLOW ROSES, which deals with relational healing. All of Young’s works are of a spiritual nature and nourish the soul from various vantage points.

These awards come on the heels of Dr. Young’s newly-released trilogy: THE CREATION SPIRIT; A LABOR OF LOVE; and KEYS TO THE DOOR OF TRUTH. These books feature a metaphysical treatment of various aspects of life from a spiritual point of view, and form the basis for what is sure to be a continuing array of offerings under his THE SPIRITUAL AWARENESS SERIES moniker. All of these writings, including the award-winning pieces mentioned above, are available on his website: http://creationspirit.net.

Endnotes

I. Emptying the Old Wine

I’d like to tell you a story about a widely renowned metaphysician in nowadays terms. It’s early in the 21st century, and Christo Sahbays, a local healer, shaman, and metaphysician and his immediate followers of men, women, and children are beginning to be known around northwest Arkansas, located in the midst of the Bible Belt. Christo is asked to speak to a small gathering in Fayetteville, Arkansas, anticipating a hundred participants or so. Because of his rapidly growing, rather controversial reputation as a metaphysical healer, the demand for seats gets out of hand quickly, so much so that the decision is made by the organizers to rent a huge auditorium. Soon the demand again outstrips the size of the facility and they lease the university’s arena that seats some 18,000 for basketball, overshadowing the sacred halls of academe nearby.

Interaction Information

YOUR PART IN THESE OFFERINGS

This collection of writings and photographic images are offered not only to open up our minds and hearts to other ways of thinking about life, but, even more important, to offer various means of reframing life, of allowing ourselves to go way beyond the intellect and doctrine alone in order to fathom the deeper reaches of spiritual meaning and its causational value for us.

By no means are these offerings meant to be the be-all, end-all, the single definitive means of awakening to greater meaning and purpose for life. Rather, they are meant only to stimulate your own searching for meaning, the development of your very own means of fathoming the depths for the Truth of how you are to live your life. At the bottom line, it is only within yourself that such Truth can be found. Therefore, these writings and images are meant only to stimulate and inspire you to go within to your own Inner Authority–God, the still, small voice within–by whatever name you wish to give this Sacred Source.

As you begin exercising the courage to ask questions important to living your purpose, and then become obedient in following the answers you receive, no matter how strange they may appear to be at first, you will develop a sense of self that corresponds more and more to the Divine you actually are. On some level we all know we are Divine, yet could not stand to carry all the information that tells that this is so. The memory of our entire being is so complex as to confuse, rather than clarify, this Truth. Rather, we are to learn to pay attention to all of our rich, sacred moments only as they come to the surface in our everyday living, in relationship with all other beings, sentient and otherwise. There is no need to work diligently in striving to be something we think we are not. The key is to become aware of what we already are, Divinity Expressed, and in our own way demonstrate that, and only that, through all we do. Thus expressing our own Divinity becomes something we are to express in the presence of each moment that comes to us, rather than striving endlessly to achieve Divinity, or to limit ourselves to thinking that we achieve Divinity only when we arrive at our mythical heaven. Knowing our own Divinity, and acting from it, IS Heaven in Earth.

Such an approach can seem like hocus-pocus to us at first, and could most certainly begin to accumulate labels like “new age” thinking. The irony is that most of what is mislabeled “new age” really is wisdom that has been passed down through the ages, but which is now simply repackaged to suit the times. In reality, it is the wisdom of the ages, of the real “learned ones,” the shamans of the ages, returning once again to contribute its richness to the spiral of life.

The intention of this one through whom these words, ideas and images have come is to share them openly without ego-attachment. It is my hope that they can be used as pivotal points of focus to help enlighten one another. In this regard, it is anticipated that there will be weekly sessions based upon a particular writing or a specific chapter or idea, during which we, as collaborators in Truth-finding, can lovingly share what comes to light. Inspiration is a marvelous thing: it always shows up when we arrive at the scene ready and willing to open our hearts to the voices of our muses.

Along the way, it also is my intention to create opportunities for others to contribute to topical treatises on issues and concerns of interest. The central thread that currently runs through these writings is that of the metaphysician: life as spirit, not material being. Said another way, life is nothing but metaphor, whose purpose is spiritual unfoldment. This will take on more meaning from the writings contained on this web-site. For a time, this site will be a foundational base for such explorations.

Before you begin, as strange as this may sound coming from a metaphysicist, I encourage you to obtain a good dictionary, for it is in the hidden spaces between the lines that meaning is often best found, and if you have only a pocket dictionary, even some of that will be missing. You might begin by investing in Webster’s New Universal Unabridged Dictionary. I continue to find it to be a most useful source of wisdom. No matter what you have as your source in this regard, I suggest you begin by discerning the meaning of the term metaphysics. More on that as we engage in fruitful spiritual deliberation.

This evolving set of ideas and images is offered in an easily accessible way at a small fraction of the cost normally attributed to the printing and photograph printing industries. A portion of the dividends will be donated to enhance the development of metaphysical understanding. I invite your feedback and participation in what I hope will be enlightening discussions on the contents of these pages.
